Troubleshooting & Common Questions

Quick answers to the most common issues. If you can't find what you need here, we're one message away.

Most issues come down to one of three things: code placed in the wrong spot, a caching layer serving old content, or a login mix-up. This page covers all of them, plus the questions we get asked most often.

Code Placement

Installation and code placement

The most common question we get is "where do I put my code?" The answer depends on your platform.

WordPress users don't need to paste any code at all. The StructuredAF plugin handles everything automatically. Install the plugin, connect your Site ID, and you're done.

Everyone else pastes a single code snippet into their platform's custom code or header injection area. The exact location varies by platform, so we've written a step-by-step guide for each one:

Common installation mistakes

Pasting the snippet into a "body" or "footer" code field instead of the "head" or "header" area. JSON-LD is valid in either location, but head placement is the standard and ensures maximum compatibility.

Forgetting to click Save or Publish after pasting. Most platforms require you to explicitly save changes before they go live.

Some platforms (like Wix and Squarespace) require a paid plan before you can add custom code. Check the platform guide for any plan requirements.

Account Access

Login and account issues

StructuredAF uses magic link login. When you click "Log in", we send a secure link to your email address. Click it and you're in. No password to remember.

If you're not receiving the magic link email, check these first:

Check your spam or junk folder

Magic link emails can sometimes land in spam, promotions, or junk folders. Search for "StructuredAF" in your email to find it. If it's there, mark it as "not spam" so future emails come through to your inbox.

Make sure you're using the email you signed up with

The magic link is sent to the email address on your account. If you signed up with a different email to the one you're typing in, you won't receive it. Try the other email addresses you use.

The magic link has expired

Magic links expire after a short period for security. If the link doesn't work when you click it, go back to the login page and request a fresh one. It only takes a moment.

Verification

Checking your schema is working

The simplest way to confirm your schema is live: visit your website in a browser, right-click anywhere, select View Page Source, and search for ld+json or structuredaf. If you can see the code block in your page source, it's working.

I can't see my schema in the page source

A few things to check:

Did you click Deploy in the StructuredAF app (not just Generate)? Generating creates the schema, but Deploy is what publishes it.

Have you cleared your browser cache? Try opening your page in a private or incognito window.

If your platform has its own caching (common with WordPress caching plugins), clear that too and check again.

WordPress users: make sure the StructuredAF plugin is activated and your Site ID is connected. Check the WordPress installation guide for details.

I'm on Go High Level and can't see it in View Page Source

Go High Level injects code client-side, which means it won't appear in the raw page source. Instead, right-click and choose Inspect (or press F12), then search the Elements panel for ld+json. If it's there, it's working. More details in the Other Platforms guide.

The schema is showing but it looks outdated

You've likely made changes in the app but haven't regenerated and redeployed. Go to the StructuredAF app, click Generate Schema, then Deploy. WordPress users will see changes automatically. Everyone else needs to copy the new snippet and replace the old one. See our Updating Your Schema guide for the full process.

Keeping Current

Updates and changes

When you update your profile, offers, or FAQs in the StructuredAF app, your schema doesn't update on its own. You need to regenerate and redeploy. The process takes about a minute.

WordPress users: After you click Deploy in the app, the plugin picks up the changes automatically via CDN. No code to copy or paste.

All other platforms: After deploying, copy the updated code snippet and replace the old one in your platform's code injection area. Same place you originally installed it.

Full details, including when you should and shouldn't bother regenerating, are in the Updating Your Schema guide.

Compatibility

Compatibility with other tools

I already have Yoast or RankMath. Will there be conflicts?

No. StructuredAF uses intelligent merge technology that detects what's already on your site and adds only what's missing. SEO plugins handle basic article schema, sitemaps, and meta tags. StructuredAF builds your complete business identity schema: services, products, credentials, expertise, and how everything connects. They do different jobs and work side by side without conflicts or duplicates.

Will this slow down my website?

No. The schema is a small block of structured data in your page header. It's lighter than most tracking scripts, analytics tools, and plugins you already have installed. Zero impact on page speed.

My platform already generates some schema. Is that a problem?

Not at all. Platforms like Shopify generate basic product schema (price, availability, reviews), and some themes output basic organisation data. StructuredAF generates a completely different layer of schema: your business identity, expertise, credentials, and the relationships between your services, products, and content. They complement each other.

AI Discovery

AI visibility and timing

How long until AI starts recommending me?

Once your schema is live, it depends on when AI crawlers next visit your pages. Google typically recrawls within days to weeks. AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini may take longer to reflect new data. The important thing is that the structured data is on your site and ready when they do crawl. Think of it as setting the table before the guests arrive.

Does StructuredAF guarantee I'll appear in AI results?

No tool can guarantee that. What StructuredAF does is give AI search engines the clearest possible picture of your business, structured in the format they're designed to read. You're making it as easy as possible for AI to understand and recommend you. Without structured data, AI has to guess what you do from your page content. With it, you're giving AI a detailed, organised profile to work from.

Do I need to do anything else besides install the schema?

Schema gives AI the structured data layer. But it works best alongside good content on your website, an active online presence, and the kind of authority signals that come from running a real business. Keep your website content updated, publish helpful material in your area of expertise, and make sure your social profiles and directory listings are consistent with your site. Schema is the foundation, not the whole building.

Platform Migration

Switching platforms

Your data lives in your StructuredAF account, not on any website platform. If you move from Squarespace to WordPress, Wix to Shopify, or any other combination, your structured data comes with you. Just install on the new platform and you're set.

Full details are in our Switching Platforms guide.
