Installing on Wix

Generate your StructuredAF code, add it through Wix Custom Code, and set it to load on every page.

There are a few settings to get right on the way in, and after that there's nothing else to set up.

Before you start
  • Your StructuredAF profile filled in
  • Access to your Wix site dashboard
  • A published Wix site with a domain connected

Wix doesn't offer Custom Code until your site is published and has a domain connected, so if you can't find it, that's usually why.

Three steps, start to finish

It helps to have your StructuredAF account and your Wix dashboard open side by side, since you'll be copying from one to the other.

Generate and copy your code

In your StructuredAF account, open Add to Site. With your profile and offers and FAQs filled in, click Generate, then Copy Code.

Open Custom Code

In your Wix site dashboard, go to Settings, then find Custom Code under Development and integrations. Click Add Custom Code.

Wix has a separate structured data field tucked away in its SEO settings. Ignore that one. Custom Code is the route you want.

Paste and configure

Paste your StructuredAF code into the box, then set it up like this:

  • Name it something you'll recognise later, like StructuredAF
  • Add it to all pages, which covers any new pages you build later too
  • Load it on each page your visitor opens, not once per visit
  • Place it in the head

Then click Apply. Those last two matter more than they look: once per visit isn't enough, and the body options put your code where it's less use.

How you know it worked

Head back to your StructuredAF dashboard and click Scan Site. Point it at your published Wix site rather than the editor or a preview, since neither of those is what the outside world sees.

If your details come back in the results, you're done. If nothing shows up, check the four settings from step three, and that the whole code block made it across.

If you ever change your domain

This one's worth knowing before it happens. Wix ties Custom Code to the domain your site is on, and assigning a different domain deletes your code entirely. Nothing warns you, and nothing breaks visibly. Your site just quietly stops telling AI who you are.

So if you move to a new domain, go straight back to Custom Code and install StructuredAF again. Adding a second domain that redirects to your main one is fine and doesn't need anything, since the traffic ends up on your primary domain either way.

When something changes

Wix doesn't update on its own, so when you change something in StructuredAF, you'll need to copy the new version across.

Go back to Add to Site, click Generate, and copy your code again. Then open your existing StructuredAF entry in Custom Code, replace the old code with the new, and apply.

The important bit is replacing rather than creating a second entry. Two versions running at once means two different accounts of your business, which helps nobody. Updating Your Profile goes through it properly.

Questions people ask

Does this work on a free Wix site?

No. Wix needs your site published with a domain connected before Custom Code becomes available, and connecting a domain means being on a paid Wix plan.

Does this work with Wix Studio?

Yes. Custom Code works across all of Wix's editors, so the route through your site dashboard and the settings you choose are the same.

What about the structured data Wix already adds?

Wix does publish some of its own for certain page types, and you don't need to strip that out to install StructuredAF.

What matters is that the two agree with each other. Keep your business name, website address, logo and location consistent across both, because contradictory information is contradictory no matter which platform produced it.
