Platform Migration

Switching Platforms

Moving from Squarespace to WordPress? Wix to Shopify? Your structured data comes with you. Here's how.

Your data lives in your StructuredAF account, not on your website platform. When you switch platforms, nothing is lost. You just install on the new platform and your structured data is live again.

Step by Step

How switching works

Three steps, regardless of which platforms are involved.

1
Remove from the old platform

Delete the StructuredAF code snippet from your old platform's code injection area (or deactivate the WordPress plugin if you're moving away from WordPress). This is optional but keeps things tidy.

2
Log in to your StructuredAF account

Everything is still there. Your profile, offers, FAQs, and generated schema haven't changed. Go to Add to Site and copy the code snippet (or note your Site ID if you're moving to WordPress).

3
Install on the new platform

Follow the installation guide for your new platform. Same snippet, new home.

No need to regenerate

Your schema is already generated and deployed. You're just changing where it's installed. Unless you want to update your profile, offers, or FAQs at the same time, you can skip the Generate and Deploy steps and go straight to pasting the snippet.

Migration Paths

Common scenarios

The most popular platform moves we see from coaches, consultants, and course creators.

Moving to WordPress

Install the StructuredAF WordPress plugin, enter your Site ID, and you're done. The plugin handles delivery via CDN and updates automatically. No code snippet to paste.

Moving away from WordPress

Deactivate the StructuredAF plugin on your old WordPress site. On your new platform, paste the code snippet from your StructuredAF dashboard into the platform's code injection or custom head area. Follow the guide for your new platform: Squarespace, Wix, Shopify, Webflow, Kajabi, Systeme.io, Teachable, or other platforms.

Moving between non-WordPress platforms

The code snippet is the same regardless of platform. Remove it from the old one, paste it into the new one. The only difference is where each platform keeps its code injection settings, which is why we have a separate guide for each.

Running multiple platforms at the same time

If your main website is on one platform and you have landing pages or a shop on another, you can install on both. The same code snippet (or WordPress plugin plus snippet) works across all your web properties simultaneously. Your structured data stays consistent everywhere.

Quick Answers

Common questions

Do I need to update my StructuredAF account when I switch?

No. Your account isn't tied to any specific platform. The same schema works everywhere. Just install it on the new platform and you're set.

Will I lose my schema history or settings?

No. Your profile, offers, FAQs, and generated schema all live in your StructuredAF account. Switching platforms doesn't affect any of it.

What if my new platform doesn't support code injection?

Most modern website platforms support some form of custom code in the head section. If your new platform genuinely doesn't, it may be worth reconsidering the choice. Platforms like WordPress, Squarespace, and Webflow all support it and are popular choices for coaches, consultants, and course creators.

I'm switching and updating my offers at the same time. What order should I do things?

Update your profile and offers in the StructuredAF app first, then click Generate Schema and Deploy. Once that's done, copy the updated snippet and install it on your new platform. That way your new site launches with your latest information from day one. See the Updating Your Schema guide for more on the generate and deploy process.

How long until AI picks up my schema on the new platform?

If your new site is on a different domain, AI crawlers will need to discover and index it, which can take days to weeks. If you're staying on the same domain (just switching the platform behind it), your schema should be picked up on the next crawl. For more on timing, see the Troubleshooting page.

Can I keep the schema on my old site while the new one is being built?

Absolutely. There's no rush to remove it from the old site. Keep it live until your new site is ready, then install on the new platform and remove from the old one whenever you're done with it.
