Setting up StructuredAF

Three steps, and you're up and running.

First, tell StructuredAF about your business. Then generate your AI Profile and connect it to your website.

Most of the information you'll need is stuff you already know: what you do, who you help, your experience, and the services or programmes you offer.

You don't need to understand the technology behind it. That's our job.

Your AI Profile brings that information together in a form AI and search systems can interpret. It isn't another page you need to write or maintain.

Before you start
  • Your business name, website address and contact email
  • A short description of what you do and who you help
  • A public image URL for your logo and a headshot
  • Your name, bio and relevant qualifications or credentials
  • Details of at least one service, programme or offer, including who it's for
  • A few questions your customers regularly ask, if you have them

A quick note about images: StructuredAF needs a direct link to the image itself, rather than a link to a page containing it.

Find the image on your website, right-click and choose Copy Image Address. Open that link in a private browser window to check it works without logging in. If you can see just the image, you're on the right track. Google Drive and Dropbox sharing links won't work here.

The Building Your Profile guide explains this in more detail.

Three steps, start to finish

There's a little more to the first step, because this is where you describe your business properly.

Don't rush it, but don't feel you need to write a masterpiece either. Clear, accurate information about your actual business is far more useful than a paragraph full of marketing buzzwords.

1

Build your AI Profile

Work through these four sections in your dashboard. Each one adds another part of the picture.

Organisation

Start with your business itself: its name, what it does, how to contact you, where you're based or who you serve, and your industry.

Think of this as the starting point that everything else connects back to.

Person

This is where you come in. Add your name, role, photo, bio, experience, areas of expertise and relevant credentials.

For a coaching or consulting business, the person behind the work is often a big part of why someone chooses it. Your experience deserves to be connected to the business, not left floating around on an About page.

Offers

Add the services, programmes, courses or packages you currently offer. For each one, explain what it helps with, who it's designed for and what's included. If you publish prices, you can add those too.

You don't need to squeeze your entire business into one generic description. Your different offers can be described individually. Offers and FAQs has more guidance.

FAQs

Add real questions people ask before working with you. These might be about who a programme is suitable for, how your service works, what's included or what someone should expect.

You don't need to invent ten vaguely robotic ones to make the section look full. Useful beats numerous.

One important thing before moving on

Open Existing AI Data in your dashboard and click Detect Existing.

StructuredAF checks what your website is already publishing so it can work alongside that information and avoid unnecessary duplication.

You don't need to uninstall Yoast, Rank Math or your existing SEO plugin.

2

Generate your AI Profile

Once you've filled in your details, open Add to Site and click Generate.

StructuredAF brings your information together, checks it and gets it ready for your website. There's no separate publishing step to worry about.

If StructuredAF flags something that needs attention, go back to the relevant section, make the change and generate again.

3

Connect your website

The last step depends on which website platform you're using.

If you're using WordPress, download the StructuredAF WordPress plugin from your StructuredAF account and install it (the WordPress installation guide walks you through it), then:

  • In WordPress, go to Settings, then StructuredAF
  • Copy your Site ID from your StructuredAF dashboard
  • Paste it into the plugin settings and save

That's your connection made. The plugin picks up your AI Profile automatically. Updates normally come through within an hour, or you can use Clear Cache in the plugin settings to pick them up straight away.

If you're using another supported platform, you'll copy your StructuredAF code into your website's settings. It's a manual installation, but there are platform-specific instructions to walk you through it.

Start with Platform Compatibility to find the right instructions for your website.

Give your expertise a proper introduction.

You don't need to fill in every possible field before publishing. But it's worth making sure you've given StructuredAF enough information to describe your business meaningfully.

At a minimum, aim for:

  • Your business name and a clear description of what you do
  • A contact email
  • At least one service, programme or offer, including who it's for
  • Your own professional details, experience and expertise

Then, where relevant, add your other offers, fuller descriptions and genuine customer FAQs.

For example, if you're a business coach with three different programmes for three different kinds of clients, describe them separately. That's much more informative than simply telling the system you're a business coach.

The aim isn't to make your profile as long as possible. It's to make it accurate, specific and useful.

When your business changes, update your profile.

Launched a new programme? Changed your services? Updated your qualifications? You can make those changes in your StructuredAF dashboard whenever you need to.

Just remember to click Generate again. Your edits are saved to your account immediately, but they won't become part of the published version until you generate your AI Profile again.

On WordPress, the plugin will normally pick up the new version within an hour. Or use Clear Cache in the plugin settings to pick it up straight away.

On other platforms, you'll need to replace the previously installed code with the updated version.

The Updating Your AI Profile guide explains the process step by step.

What happens once it's installed?

Once your AI Profile is connected to your website, the information is available there for compatible AI and search systems to interpret.

That doesn't mean ChatGPT will suddenly start recommending you tomorrow.

AI systems make their own decisions about which websites to visit, what information to use and which businesses to include in their answers. Nobody can guarantee those outcomes.

What StructuredAF does is give those systems a clearer, connected description of your business to work with.

Your expertise, your services and the people you help are described as parts of the same business, rather than leaving systems to work out all those relationships from separate web pages.

That's the part we can help with.

Ready? Start with what you know.

You know your business better than anyone. Start with the Organisation section, work through your details and take it one step at a time.

You don't have to learn a new branch of computer science to explain what you do for a living.
