Setting up StructuredAF

Build your AI Profile, generate it, and connect it to your website. That's the whole job.

Your AI Profile describes your business, your expertise and what you offer, in a form AI systems can actually read. It isn't another page to maintain.

Before you start
  • Your business name, website address and contact email
  • A short description of what you do and who you help
  • A public URL for your logo, and one for your headshot
  • Your name, bio and any relevant credentials
  • Details of at least one offer, including who it's for
  • A few real questions customers actually ask, if you have them

Getting a direct image URL: open the page where the image sits, right-click it and choose Copy Image Address. Test it in a private browser window. If the image opens on its own without a login or a surrounding page, it'll work. Google Drive and Dropbox links won't. Building Your Profile has more on this.

Three steps, start to finish

Fill in your information, generate your AI Profile, connect it to your website. The first step takes the longest, and it's the one that decides how useful the rest is.

1

Build your AI Profile

Work through the dashboard sections in this order. Each one builds on the last.

Organisation

Your business name, description, contact details, where you're based or who you serve, and your industry. This is the centre that everything else connects to.

Person

Your name, role, photo, bio, areas of expertise, experience and credentials. This connects you to the business, which matters more than people expect.

Offers

The services, products, courses or packages you currently sell. Say what each one solves, who it's for and what's included. Add a price if you publish one. Offers and FAQs goes into more detail.

FAQs

Real questions your customers ask, answered properly. You don't need to invent ten vaguely robotic ones to make the section look full. Useful beats numerous.

Before you move on, open Existing AI Data and click Detect Existing. StructuredAF checks what your website already publishes and works out how to fit alongside it. You don't need to remove your SEO plugin first.

2

Generate your AI Profile

Click Generate AI Profile. That single button pulls your information together, checks it over, builds the right files for each of your pages, and publishes them from your account.

There's no separate deploy step. If something needs your attention, fix it in the relevant section and generate again.

3

Connect your website

On WordPress, install the StructuredAF Connector plugin, then:

  • In WordPress, go to Settings, then StructuredAF
  • Copy your site ID from your StructuredAF dashboard
  • Paste it into the plugin settings and save

The plugin then fetches the right information for each page on its own. Updates come through within the hour, or straight away using the plugin's clear cache button.

On everything else, you'll copy your code across by hand. Platform Compatibility will point you at the guide for your platform, or tell you what to check if yours isn't listed.

What makes a profile worth publishing

You can technically publish something fairly thin. Whether it does you any good is a different question. At minimum, aim for:

  • A business name and a description that says what you actually do
  • A contact email
  • At least one offer, because without something to recommend there's nothing to recommend
  • Your own details, so the business isn't a faceless entity

Past that, more detail generally gives AI more to work with. A profile with several offers, proper descriptions and a handful of real FAQs paints a fuller picture than one with the bare minimum filled in.

When you change something

Edits save to your account straight away, but what's published to your website doesn't change until you click Regenerate. It's the step people forget.

Once you have, WordPress picks up the change within the hour, or immediately if you clear the cache from the plugin settings. On other platforms, you'll need to copy the updated code across and replace what's there.

Updating Your AI Profile goes through it properly.

What happens after that

Your information is on your website, in a form built to be read. From there it's out of everyone's hands, including ours.

AI systems decide for themselves when they crawl your site, what they make of what they find, and whether any of it turns up in a given answer. Nobody can promise you a slot in someone's ChatGPT results, and you should be wary of anyone who does.

What StructuredAF does is make sure that when those systems do look, they find a clear and connected account of what you do and who you're a good fit for, rather than having to guess from your homepage copy.
